Breathe New Life Into Your Walls – Professional Render & Exterior Wall Cleaning That Works
The discolouration on rendered walls is typically caused by organic growth, such as algae, lichen, and fungus. While this growth is unsightly, it can also trap moisture against the surface, potentially leading to damp and long-term degradation.
Robin Ray Exterior Cleaning treats the root cause. Our specialised softwashing process safely kills and removes this growth, restoring your property's appearance and protecting your render. The result is a 'like-new' finish, avoiding the need for costly and disruptive redecoration.
Why Exterior Wall Cleaning Is More Than Just Cosmetic
What looks like dirt is actually a living biofilm — colonies of algae, lichen and mould that feed on your rendered or painted walls. Left untreated, these growths can shorten the lifespan of your surfaces and lead to cracks, moisture retention, and even structural damage.
Robin Ray Ltd uses a low-pressure softwash system to eliminate this growth at the root. It’s safer than pressure washing and is recommended by render manufacturers like K Rend and Webber. It can make walls look like new in just one day.

FAQs – Render & Wall Cleaning Explained
What is softwashing?
Softwashing uses specialist solutions with low-pressure water to safely remove algae, lichen, and dirt from walls without surface damage.
Is it better than pressure washing for render?
Yes. Pressure washing can erode render. Softwashing cleans deeply and gently while helping to prevent regrowth.
Do I need to repaint after cleaning?
In most cases, no. Softwashing restores the surface’s appearance. For painted render, cleaning helps ensure any new paint adheres properly.
Are your products safe?
All cleaning products carry some risk. We take full precautions to protect you, your property, and the environment throughout the process.
Do you offer free quotes and surveys?
Absolutely. We provide in-person surveys, free written quotations, and test patches upon request.
Sand & Cement Render Cleaning
Sand and cement render is one of the most common wall finishes but also one of the most prone to algae and weather damage. Its porous surface holds moisture which allows green and black staining to develop over time.
At Robin Ray Exterior Cleaning we use a low pressure softwash system to clean sand and cement render safely. Unlike pressure washing our method removes organic growth and surface grime without eroding the material. The result is an even finish that restores your render’s natural appearance and helps prevent future staining.
Painted Render Cleaning
Painted render needs careful maintenance to stay in good condition. Algae and dirt can grow beneath the paint which leads to bubbling cracking or peeling if not treated correctly. Our painted render cleaning service removes this build up gently before it causes lasting damage.
We use softwashing and eco friendly cleaning products to restore painted surfaces without harming the coating or colour. Cleaning first extends the life of the paintwork and avoids the cost of early repainting which keeps your property looking clean and protected.
